Yes. The reason for this "weirdness" is mostly caused by a defective speed sensor. The speed sensor is designed to tell you and your PCM (computer for the transmission) exactly how fast the vehicle is going. When the sensor is defective the PCM doesn't "know" how fast you're really going and tries to command the transmission into its proper gear. The reason the speedometer jumps is not caused by the transmission. Its caused by the sensor. The reason it acts up more after driving it for a while, is because the sensor is effected by the engine compartment heat. The hotter it gets the more it acts up. When the car sits and cools down, so does the speed sensor it will usually work right until it gets hot again. I hope this helps you, and thanks for the question. Brian
